This means that for every 100 students who applied, 22 were admitted, making GTs admissions process highly competitive. On the math section, 50% of admitted students scored between 680 and 770, while 25% scored below 680 and 25% scored above 770. Applicants with a composite SAT score of 1500 or higher will have particularly competitive chances at Georgia Tech. Requirements Georgia Tech does not require the SAT writing section. Note that GT participates in the scorechoice program, which means that the admissions office will consider your highest score from each individual section across all SAT test dates. At Georgia Tech, SAT Subject tests are optional; applicants can submit SAT Subject test scores if they believe they will improve their overall application. ACT Scores and Requirements Georgia Tech requires that all applicants submit either SAT or ACT scores. During the 2017-18 admissions cycle, 58% of admitted students submitted ACT scores. Admissions Chances The Georgia Institute of Technology is a highly selective public university that accepts less than a quarter of all applicants. Accepted students tend to have both high grades and high test scores. In the graph above, the blue and green dots represent accepted students, and you can see that the majority of students who got in had a high school GPA of 3.5 or higher, SAT scores (ERWM) of 1200 or higher, and an ACT composite score of 25 or higher. The higher those numbers are, the more likely a student is to be accepted. Note that a few students with high GPAs and strong test scores still got rejected or waitlisted from Georgia Tech. In fact, theres a lot of red (rejected students) and yellow (waitlisted students) hidden behind the blue and green in the upper right of the graph. Note also that a few students were accepted with test scores and grades a bit below the norm. This is because Georgia Tech has a holistic admissions process involving other factors beyond your grades and test scores. A strong application essay and glowing letters of recommendation can strengthen your application, as can participation in meaningful extracurricular activities and a rigorous course schedule. Students with particularly compelling stories or achievements can still receive serious consideration even if their test scores are outside Georgia Techs average range.
